What is Grass?

Grass is an innovative network that empowers people to earn rewards simply by sharing their unused internet bandwidth, by turning it into a passive income. This approach allows individuals to regain control, benefiting directly from corporations that rely on additional bandwidth for tasks like local price checks, ad verification, and academic research.

Committed to safety and transparency, Grass has secured approval from major anti-malware providers and maintains high industry standards. Users can confidently join a fairer internet model, where every data transaction is traceable on-chain through zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, ensuring clear data provenance.

The Grass network is powered by three components:

  • Validators verify and batch data transactions, anchoring them on the blockchain for an immutable record of each session.
  • Routers connect user nodes to Validators, ensuring accountability and fair rewards based on the total validated bandwidth.
  • Grass Nodes are the user’s entry point, allowing them to contribute idle bandwidth to the network and earn rewards for relaying public data.

What is Grass staking?

Staking is a great way for long-term crypto investors to earn passive income on their cryptocurrency assets (such as GRASS) while taking part in securing the network.

Stakers, by delegating tokens to validators, give voting rights to these to validate transactions on the blockchain and propose new blocks. The more stake is attributed to a validator, the more it will be able to participate in the network consensus and earn rewards for its stakers.

A quick example: Suppose a blockchain network offers a 5% reward rate for a staking period of 1 year (5% APR). You decide to lock up and stake 100 tokens on the network. After a year, you can access your staked tokens, and you receive 5 additional tokens as your reward – minus eventual fees charged by the staking provider.

Staking cryptocurrencies such as GRASS does not require stakers to transfer their tokens to validators. It is a non-custodial process.

Why is Stakin a great choice for Grass staking?

Staking your assets on your own is operationally challenging as it requires specialist expertise to set up nodes and ensure constant uptime to maximize rewards or prevent so-called slashing(if implemented): partial loss of your staked cryptocurrencies due to prolonged downtime, or inappropriate/malicious behavior by the node operator.

There are several advantages when staking your Grass (GRASS) tokens with Stakin, such as:

  • Triple AAA-rated institutional staking provider by Staking Rewards

  • ISO 27001-certified staking provider
