How to Stake Axelar with Leap Wallet

This is a quick and easy guide on how to stake Axelar tokens with Leap wallet.

Axelar is a Proof-of-Stake cross-chain communication platform built on Tendermint, enabling decentralized bridges between Ethereum and EVM blockchains such as BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, Base, Optimism, and Cosmos ecosystem networks. Axelar features built-in APIs and its own SDK (Software Development Kit). Axelar also features Satellite for retail blockchain users, which provides an interface for cross-chain transfers.

Leap Wallet is a Web3 interchain wallet that lets users manage their assets, easily perform in-wallet staking, IBC swaps & transfers, participate in governance, manage their NFT collections, claim airdrops and more. Leap Wallet currently supports 50+ Cosmos SDK chains.

Step 1 - Configure your Leap wallet account

(Note: If you already have a Leap wallet account, you can ignore this and proceed to the next section).

Head to leapwallet.io/download and download your preferred Leap Wallet browser extension.

The wallet app will generate a fresh keyphrase for you. Copy the suggested keyphrase by clicking  “Copy to Clipboard” and then Paste it locally on your computer, or ideally, write it down on paper (avoid pasting the keyphrase and saving it in an online document, for security reasons).

Next, click “I have saved it somewhere safe.”

The next window will prompt you to verify that you saved your keyphrase by asking you to type down random words from the keyphrase. After you are done, click “Confirm."

And that’s it - You have created a new Leap wallet account. You are ready to proceed to the next step.

Step 2 - Connect your Leap wallet account to Axelar

Proceed by connecting your Leap wallet account with Axelar. Open your wallet, then tap the Cosmos icon in the top-right corner. In the search box, type "Axelar", then select Axelar from the dropdown list.

Next, you will be returned to Axelar’s main dashboard page.

Step 3 - Fund your Leap wallet with Axelar (AXL) tokens

After connecting your Leap wallet with Axelar in Step 2, you will automatically be redirected to the Axelar wallet main dashboard page.

From there, you will see several options to top-up your Leap wallet with Axelar tokens, such as transferring tokens from a centralized or a decentralized exchange, swapping/transferring from other Cosmos chains, or buying with fiat using Leap wallet’s Fiat-on-ramp. Select the option that is most convenient for you.

Step 4 - Stake your Axelar tokens

To stake your Axelar tokens, ensure you are still located on the main dashboard page within your Leap wallet account. Then click on the "Stake" tab as shown below:

Next, click on the large “Stake” button:

You will be prompted to select your staking validator. Type in “Stakin” in the search validator box and click on Stakin from the list of suggested options.

Finally, you need to specify the amount of AXL tokens you want to stake. Insert the preferred figure and click on “Review.”

On the final screen, click “Stake AXL” to complete the staking procedure.

Congratulations - You have now staked your Axelar AXL tokens with Stakin, using Leap wallet.

If you wish to unstake your AXL tokens you can do so from the Leap wallet’s main dashboard page by clicking on your validator, in this instance, Stakin, and then click on “Unstake AXL.” Please note that the unstaking period on Axelar is 7 (seven) days.

DISCLAIMER: This is not financial advice. Staking and cryptocurrency investment involve a certain degree of risk, and there is always the possibility of loss, including the loss of all staked digital assets. Additionally, delegators are at risk of slashing in case of security or liveness faults on some PoS protocols. We advise you to DYOR before choosing a validator.
