Enabling Decentralized Security and Cross-chain Bridging for deBridge: A Case Study

deBridge offers a decentralized standard for cross-chain interoperability and liquidity transfers to scale up protocols. With deBridge, users and developers can bridge any arbitrary assets and data and build new types of cross-chain interoperability applications with their decentralized infrastructure. Thanks to its 0-TVL liquidity engine, deBridge enables any value or information to be moved virtually instantly between chains.

deBridge is building the cross-chain bridge that DeFi demands. By removing the bottlenecks and risks of liquidity pools, deBridge enables value and information to flow instantly across the DeFiverse with deep liquidity and guaranteed rates.

The Challenge

To date, DeBridge has bridged over $2.5 billion in crypto assets from 405,000 users across 11 supported blockchains, collecting roughly $100,000 in fees each day, with zero security incidents or downtime since launch.

This matters because various bridge exploits are responsible for more than $2 billion in lost crypto assets in 2022 alone. Therefore, it is of extraordinary importance for DeBridge to work with a secure, trusted, and experienced infrastructure provider that also possesses multichain expertise.

Stakin has been a huge asset in making deBridge an unstoppable infrastructure, providing 100% uptime since launching their trusted deBridge validator. It’s thanks to partners like Stakin that deBridge can service hundreds of thousands of users while maintaining a best-in-class user experience.

The Solution

deBridge works with a carefully selected set of validators constituting the protocol’s infrastructure layer. The infrastructure layer is represented by a set of reputable validators who operate a deBridge node alongside full nodes of every blockchain supported by the protocol.

deBridge has selected Stakin as one of the 11 validators based on our enterprise-grade multichain expertise. Validators such as Stakin play a crucial role in interoperability protocols as infrastructure providers and in securing the protocol by validating all cross-chain transactions passing through it.

We started supporting DeBridge from its early testnet iterations in Q4 2021 and continued supporting DeBridge Mainnet in 2022. What excited us about DeBridge is that the protocol is a key pillar of web3 infrastructure. Our support for DeBridge is also an example of what we can do beyond pure staking and Proof-of-Stake services, such as providing dedicated infrastructure services for Web3 projects like bridges. In addition to being a node operator, Stakin also possesses multichain expertise in running secure RPCs. We’re proud to use this expertise to contribute to DeBridge’s security and decentralization.

About deBridge

deBridge is a cross-chain interoperability and liquidity transfer protocol allowing decentralized asset transfer between various blockchains. The deBridge protocol dramatically expands the concept of traditional bridges by introducing generic cross-chain message transfers. Now, developers and builders can interconnect any smart contracts across different blockchains to perform data transfers and transaction calls (messages containing instructions to be executed, or CALLDATA) together with the value transfer in the same transaction.

This opens up endless opportunities to build complex cross-chain interactions, such as multi-chain applications, next-layer protocols, automated cross-chain arbitraging services, object or NFT bridges, and more.

About Stakin
